In-Situ Treatment

In-situ chemical and biological treatment of soils and groundwater

Oracle can offer a range of in-situ chemical and biological treatments for the remediation of soils and groundwater reducing excavation and disposal and limiting material sent to landfill

  • Tracer & Application Testing

Our Engineers have a long history of the injection of varied chemicals for remediation purposes and can provide a pre-chemical application suitability report to enable a cost effective chemical treatment plan.

  • In-situ chemical oxidation

In-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) involves injection of chemical oxidants into the ground and has the potential to effectively treat a wide range of organic contaminants. We can assess the nature and extent of land and groundwater contamination and, where appropriate, design and implement a chemical treatment plan fully optimised to reduce contamination to acceptable levels.

  • In-situ bioremediation

Through our own research and experience we have a good understanding of the application of a wide variety of bio-remediation treatments. We have successfully applied a variety of techniques including bio-stimulation by the addition of nutrients, bio-venting by aeration of soils to stimulate in-situ biological activity and bio-sparging by injecting air into groundwater to increase dissolved oxygen levels.

  • Oxygen release compounds

We have extensive experience of injected and passive applications of oxygen release compounds into the environment to enhance natural biodegradation of organic contaminants.

Oxygen release compounds can be introduced under pressure by direct push injection into soils and groundwater and via existing boreholes using packers by our own remediation engineers.

Our team have developed diffusers for the controlled passive application of oxygen release compounds to enhance aerobic biodegradation in the saturated zone.

Case Study

In-situ treatments were utilised to address shallow soil contamination at a petrol filling station to avoid large scale excavation and minimise disruption to the site operations.
