Plan : Audit : Train : Respond
We provide a complete package for companies and organisations who store and use potentially polluting substances including oils, chemicals, plastics, slurry and digestates, to assist with the prevention of pollution and the mitigation of impacts to the environment and human health.
To do this, we help companies ‘Plan, Audit, Train and Respond’. These services help ensure compliance with legislation and best practice and environmental management systems such as ISO 14001.
We’ve provided these services to companies assisting them with the drafting of spill contingency plans and pollution incident reduction plans, training their site staff as well as their managers in spill response and the implications of incidents, auditing of the oil and chemical storage on their sites, and providing response and remediation services when required.
Measurable outcomes of adopting our ‘Plan, Audit, Train Respond’ package should include a reduction in the number of spill incidents that occur, a related reduction in the costs of dealing with spill incidents, and a reduction in the number of prosecutions and potentially the level of any fines associated with any spill incidents.
Plan
We can help with the drafting of spill contingency plans and pollution incident reduction plans. These will detail the nature of your oil or chemical storage, legislative requirements with respect to the storage and use of oil and chemicals, the assessment of potential risks to the environment and human health, site sensitivity mapping, prioritisation of site audits, spill response planning, training and exercise requirements, and recommendations for pollution prevention.
Audit
We can then audit your sites to:
Assess the compliance of your product storage against current legislation and guidance
Assess the nature and efficacy of your site drainage
Assess the risk of impacts to the environment and human health from a range of spill scenarios
Assess the efficacy of your existing spill response procedures and equipment
Assess existing resources and training for staff available to respond in the event of an incident
We also provide recommendations for any improvements considered necessary to ensure compliance, to reduce the potential for spills to occur, and to mitigate the impacts in the event of a spill incident occurring.
Train
To support the spill contingency plans and site audits, we can also provide training courses for your staff in basic spill response, spill response for managers, soil screening and sampling and spill contingency planning. All our training also covers relevant health and safety considerations as well as a summary of relevant legislation. We are an International Spill Accreditation Scheme (ISAS) accredited training provider, and our courses provide practical training where appropriate to ensure your staff are sufficiently prepared to respond.
Respond
Your spill contingency plan will highlight the tiered approach to spill response which will confirm when spills can be dealt with in-house and when external support is likely to be required. We provide emergency response to spills and pollution incidents, and we have extensive experience of dealing with spills in a wide variety of environments.
We are International Spill Accreditation Scheme accredited in the following categories:
Spill Responder - Inland Surface Waters
Remediation of Spills Impacting Groundwater
Remediation of Spills Impacting Soils or Property
Spill Consultancy & Management Services
Spills on Hardstanding and within Drainage System
Response to Shoreline Plastic Spills
We are able to deal with pollution incidents from their initial emergency stages through to planned remediation and verification works and can liaise with all interested parties throughout.
Providing training to site staff in basic spill response ensures rapid response to spill incidents and can ensure that spill response contractors such as OEE are only mobilised when absolutely necessary.
