Plastic Pollution Services
Plastic Pollution
Plastic pollution presents a significant environmental challenge given the widespread use of plastics. Releases to the environment occur at every point of the plastics lifecycle and the persistence, mobility and potential environmental impact of plastics requires careful assessment and specialist recovery techniques. The release and impacts of microplastics is of growing concern particularly when plastic pellets (also known as ‘nurdles’), fragments and other materials are released into rivers, coastal waters and onto land.
Oracle Environmental provides technical expertise and practical solutions to help organisations prevent, prepare for, and respond to plastic pollution incidents. Combining our experience in pollution response and remediation with ongoing research and industry collaboration, we support clients in managing plastic pollution risks and reducing environmental impacts.
We work with organisations across the plastics supply chain, including manufacturers, transport operators, ports and waste management companies, as well as local authorities and others responsible for managing pollution incidents.

Specialist Response Equipment Capabilities
Oracle Environmental's trained response teams use a range of recovery techniques, including specialist vacuum recovery and particle separation equipment, to support the effective collection and separation of plastics from the environment.
Our approach considers the type and distribution of plastics, site environment and environmental sensitivities to determine appropriate recovery methods. From initial containment and bulk recovery, through to detailed clean-up and longer-term monitoring, we implement practical solutions that minimise further environmental disturbance.
Research, Innovation and Collaboration
We have been researching and collaborating on reducing the impact of plastic pollution, specifically micro-plastics including plastic nurdles, response for over 6 years.
Our plastic pollution capabilities have developed through research, practical response experience and collaboration with industry specialists. This includes contributing to Fidra's research into the global plastic pellet supply chain, developing recovery techniques and supporting responses to plastic pollution incidents locally and nationally. Experience you can rely on
Oracle Environmental has supported responses to significant plastic pollution incidents, including plastic pellet releases affecting sensitive coastal environments. Our experience in shoreline assessment, recovery operations and environmental monitoring continues to inform our response capabilities and technical advice.
As an ISAS-accredited plastic pollution response provider, we bring independently assessed capabilities alongside our wider expertise in environmental incident management. This new category 9, recognises capability in assessing, managing and responding to plastic pollution incidents across shoreline and inland environments, an area of growing importance to spill responders and coastal authorities.
