Proud to be the UK’s first accredited team for shoreline plastics response

We are proud to announce that Oracle Environmental Experts (OEE) has successfully completed its re-accreditation with the International Spill Accreditation Scheme becoming the first company in the UK to be accredited under the new Category 9: Shoreline Plastics Response.

Setting the standard in plastics pollution response

As plastics pollution becomes a growing challenge for local authorities, landowners and coastal operators, this new International Spill Accreditation Scheme category recognises organisations with the capability, training and resources to respond effectively to shoreline and inland plastics incidents.

Being the first company accredited in Category 9 highlights OEE’s leadership in this emerging area and reinforces our commitment to raising industry standards.

A comprehensive two-part assessment

Our International Spill Accreditation Scheme accreditation was awarded following:

  • An online capability review, with a strong focus on our plastics response procedures, training and evidence.

  • An in-person visit to our Hampshire base, including an equipment review, case study discussions and a site visit to a live land remediation project.

This allowed International Spill Accreditation Scheme assessors to see our approach in the field and verify our readiness across all areas of plastics response, spill management and land remediation.

Accredited across multiple International Spill Accreditation Scheme categories

OEE is accredited in the following categories:

  • Category 1: Spills on Hardstanding & Drainage Systems

  • Category 2: Inland Surface Waters

  • Category 3: Groundwater Remediation

  • Category 4: Soil & Property Remediation

  • Category 8: Spill Consultancy & Management

  • Category 9: Shoreline Plastics Response (NEW First in the UK)

These categories reflect our broad capability in spill response, investigation, remediation and environmental support. Speaking on the significance of achieving Category 9, Jon Burton, Managing Director of OEE, said:

“Achieving the Category 9 Plastics Accreditation is a significant milestone for us. I’m proud of our team’s commitment, and this recognition now allows us to offer the industry a stronger, more specialised response to plastic pollution challenges.”

Supporting local authorities, ports and industry

This accreditation demonstrates OEE’s technical competence, robust safety practices, and operational readiness.
We welcome conversations with:

  • Local authorities and Local Resilience Forums

  • Ports and coastal operators

  • Utilities and infrastructure owners

  • Environmental and land management organisations

If you are looking to strengthen your environmental resilience or need accredited support for plastics or spill incidents, land remediation or site investigation, we’re here to help.

A final thank you

A massive thank you to everyone at OEE, this shows the dedication, passion and hard work that each person does in the delivery of client support in a diverse range of projects in land contamination, spill response and commercial systems. It’s great to see that work recognised.
